If you are in the market for a coffee machine, there is a lot of choice. Some think that just using a simple pour over coffee pot is a loose waste of effort and time. A gimmick that makes you appear like a total coffee hipster, not giving good results. Now you got a good old fashion coffee brewer, and you need a gooseneck coffee kettle, but finding one that suits you is difficult.
When it comes to choosing a coffee kettle, think about it like buying any other kitchen gadget: think of what you will be using it for, think of how easy it is to clean, think about how much you can spend, and think about looks. Because a gooseneck kettle looks cool, it might be an idea to go for one - but if you pour yourself a cup of coffee (or tea, or soda) in it, is it still really going to look "cool"? Probably not.
But there is actually one thing you should be looking for in a coffee maker: it should have an internal adjustable temperature gauge. This is critical, especially when you're pouring a mug of coffee, or tea, into a gooseneck glass carafe. Just look at some of the cheapest plastic coffee kettles, and you will see what I mean. The temperature gauges in those can be so inaccurate, it's almost like trying to brew yourself a six-pack of beer by pouring water into a glass carafe. Coffee brewers with built-in temperature gauge prevent that. A quality coffee kettle should be able to indicate a perfect internal temperature, and give you a good taste out of your coffee, hot, or cold.
